Aggregate Testing Equipments

Aggregate Impact Tester with counter: IS: 2386 (Part-IV), BS 812.
Determining the aggregate impact value of coarse aggregate.

Consists of a base weighing between 22-30 kg with a lower surface of not less than 30 cms and support columns to form a rigid frame work around quick release trigger mechanism to ensure an effective free fall of the hammer during test. The free fall can be adjusted through 380+-5.0 mm. The hammer is provided with a locking arrangement.

A metal tup (hammer) weighing 13.5 to 14.0 kg, the lower end of in cylindrical shape, 100 mm in diameter and 5 cm long with a 2 mm chamfer at the lower edge, and case hardened. Complete with a cylindrical cup, 102 mm dia x 50 mm depth, one measure 75mm dia x 50 mm deep and tamping rod of circular cross-section 10 mm in diameter and 230 mm long, rounded at one end.

Aggregate Crushing Value test apparatus : IS : 2386 (Part IV)

Consists of a 15 cms diameter open-ended steel cylinder, with plunger and base plate. Complete with a tamping rod of circular cross-section 16 mm in diameter and 45 to 60 cms long, rounded at one end.

Similar to ASEW-166, but 75 mm dia cylinder.

Deval Abrasion Testing machine: IS: 2386 (PIV)
For the determination of resistance of aggregate to wear by abrasion. Two hollow cylinders, closed at one end and provided with tightly fitting covers at the other end. The inside diameter of the cylinder 20 cms and 34 cms depth. The cylinder are mounted on a shaft at an angle of 30 degrees with the axis of rotation. The shaft rotates at 30-33 r.p.m. through a reduction gear, coupled to a motor. Suitable for operation on 440 volts, three phase, 50 cycles, A.C. supply.

Supplied complete fitting with a counter and push button starter.

ASEW-190.1 - Accessories : Abrasive Charge: Consists of 12 Nos. cast iron spheres or steel spheres (steel balls) hardened, approximately 48 mm in diameter, each weighing between 390-445 gram.

Los Angles abrasion testing machine : 2386 (P- IV), ASTM C131,C535.
Tests for resistance to abrasion in crushed rock, slag, crushed and uncrushed gravel, using Los Angeles testing method.

Consists of a hollow steel cylinder, close at both ends, having an inside diameter of 700 mm and an inside length of 500mm. The cylinder mounted on a sturdy frame on ball bearings. The opening shall be closed dust-tight with a removable cover bolted in place. A detachable shelf which extends through of the drum catches the abrasive charge and does not allow it to fall on the cover. The drum is rotated at a speed of 30-33 r.p.m by an electric motor through a heavy duty reduction gear.

Supplied complete with a tray for collection of the material.

ASEW-191.1 - Accessories : Abrasive charge: Consists of set of 12 Nos cast iron spheres or steel spheres (Hardened steel balls) approximately 48 mm in diameter, each weighing between 390-445 gram.

Dorry Abrasion Testing machine: BS: 812.
This machine is used for determining the resistance of aggregates to wear by abrasion. Two specimens can be mounded simultaneously and then kept loaded by weight against a machined flat circular grinding surface. The grinding disc rotates at 28-30 r.p.m. and two funnels release a continuous flow of sand in front of each specimen . A tray with an outlet , placed under the rotating disc facilitates the removal of sand. Suitable for operation on the rotating dia. facilitates the removal of sand . Suitable for operation on 230 volts, single phase, 50 cycles, A.C. supply. Fitted with starting switch.

Accelerated Polishing Machine, IS: 2386 (P-IV), BS 812-114
Consists of a road wheel having a flat periphery, and about its own axis at a speed of 320 to 325 rev/min. Rubber tyred wheel of 20 cms dia and 5 cms breadth to bear on the stone surface of the road wheel with a total load of 40 kg.

Tile Flexure Strength Testing machine: IS: 654.
Capacity - 200kg. For clay roofing tiles (Mangalore pattern)

The apparatus consists of two parallel self-aligning cylindrical steel bearers about 40 mm in diameter. The load is applied through a third steel bearer of similar shape placed midway between and parallel to the supports. Bearing rollers can be placed at 250 or 270 mm center distance.

This is a double lever loading machine and the load is applied by flow of lead shot which automatically stops when the sample breaks. The load is applied at the rate of 45 to 55 kg./minute meter and the accuracy of load indication is+- 2% . Without leads shots.

Tile Flexure Strength Testing machine: IS: 1237.
capacity - 200 KG. For cement concrete flooring tiles. To ASEW-194 but for the bearing rollers of 25 mm dia and spans of 150,200 and 250 mm. The load is applied at the rate of 200 kg/min/ meter. Without lead shots.

TILE Abrasion Testing Machine : IS : 1237, 1706.
For Cement Concrete Flooring Tiles. The tile sample is pressed under a specified load against a grinding path, strewn evenly with an abrasive powder revolving at the rate of 30+-1 revolutions per minute. At the end of 100 revolutions of the disc the second parallel side of the tile is subjected to wear for an equal number of revolutions of the disc. The wear of the tile is measured using a thickness gauge. The abrasion testing machine consists kof a replaceable grinding path fitting on to a disc rotating about its vertical axis. The rotating disc and grinding path are enclosed by a circular tray. A bracket holds the specimen. The loading is by a counter balanced lever. A funnel is provided to facilitate charging the grinding path with abrasive powder. Supplied complete with automatic pre-set revolution counter and one 7.5 kg weight but without abrasive powder and thickness gauge. Suitable for operation on 230 volts, single phase, AC supply.

ASEW-196.1 - Accessories: Thickness measuring device with dial gauge 0.01 mm x 25 mm travel.

Riffle Sample Divider: IS: 1607, 2720; ASTM C136, D421, D422, D427, D4517, D452, D457, D806, D4318, BS:812 (part 103), 1377, AASHTO T27,T87.
Consists of a metal box fitted with a series of chutes of equal width which discharge the material alternatively in opposite directions into separate pans. The chutes of the riffle are steep enough to allow rapid flowing of the material.
